High Blood Pressure in the Cubicle Salt Mines

The glamorous chic lady next to me is Sammi, my closest friend at work, lots of fun and an absolute sweetheart.. another reason why moving to Optus was the right move....

You may recall that in September last year - OK it's likely you don't since let's face it most of it barely remember what we ate for lunch yesterday, let alone what we did last year! LOL - I fled the oppressive work environment of FedEx, and landed into what I hoped would be the more welcoming embrace (hmm, this use of romantic jargon in regards to work is disturbing.... must stop it now)... well the very good news is that, insane work hours at times aside, and the dead hand of Mircosoft Outlook upon me, that the move has been a most excellent one.... I quickly adapted to a new work place, got to know everyone in my small division in record time - yes, I am as shy and retiring as the US army wantonly invading Middle Eastern countries - and began to make a real contribution to the social life of the group as well.... just over halfway through the year, the woman who had been the Executive Assistant to the Managing Director (prestigious role as the MD reports to the CEO) left to work on the Executive level, and my manager at the time, without checking with me (bless her!) volunteered me to cover the MD's EA's role as well as my own, which included two senior Directors, and two teams of 30 people each.... it was full-on, stressful but exhilarating all at once as my skills, nascent though they were in some respects, were put to the test....

The gorgeous lady in the red dress is Sandra, the other EA in the division, who I work closely with, and who has become a very good friend....

Thankfully I passed with flying tastefully coordinated colours - you think I would use clashing hues? Please! What kind of gay boy do you think I am ?! LOL  - so much so, and this was a massive ego boost, that the MD asked me to take on the job of looking after her permanently. Due to some cost cutting, I ended up with half of my old job as well, so my days are rarely quiet, but I get on brilliantly well with my boss, still enjoy the company of my colleagues, and stressful though it is, really love what I do.... I love it so much that I have foregone all my Christmas holidays and I will be working through all public holidays too...... and then the pretty pink flying hippos all flew in formation to LaLaLand, accompanied by celestial choirs of fluorescent chimpanzees.... which is my way of saying....HaHa!! I love it but let's not get ridiculous.... I am very much looking forward to 3 weeks off, during which I plan to let my brain forget any and all useful information, read lots of books, catch up on DVD box sets, and not schedule one freakin' thing! YEAH!

I am the thorn between two lovely roses, Tricia and Amanda who making working in the division a real delight....
